Course Summary

This course is aimed at employees at any level, in any sector, who need a basic knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety at work. This should therefore apply to all types of employees since everyone at work should have an understanding of why they must ‘work safely’.

The course should also benefit employers by helping them to improve the safety culture within their organisation. By focusing on how individual actions contribute to Health and Safety in the workplace it will also assist in making employees more responsible towards themselves, colleagues and other persons affected by work activities.

The course is ideal for delivery as part of an employee induction programme or as part of an ongoing training scheme.

Course Objectives

  • Identify the hazards and evaluate the risks in their workplace
  • Use appropriate workplace precautions for specific risks
  • Assist managers in preparing written risk assessments
  • Follow their organisation’s Health and Safety policy
  • Co-operate and communicate on safety matters
  • Carry out work activities without endangering themselves or others
  • Report relevant accidents and incidents
  • Monitor their own activities and assist managers in active monitoring
