Course Summary
The course introduces delegates to the methods/procedures and applications that will enable them to identify and select the appropriate type of lifting tackle when lifting and transferring loads.
It also demonstrates the correct way to carry out inspection of their lifting equipment prior to the lift, also to ensure that it conforms to the statutory requirements and how to isolate the equipment if it does not comply.
A correct method for the storage of equipment is also explained.

- How to determine the weight of a load.
- Types of Lifting Tackle and their applications.
- Methods of Lifting and Slinging and angles of lift.
- Selecting appropriate Lifting tackle.
- Isolating faulty equipment.
- Procedures for fault reporting.
- Methods to protect loads from damage.
- Attaching lifting equipment to slings.
- The use of appropriate signals.
- Carrying out a test lift.
- How to plan a lift.
Course Requirements:
- A clear understanding of slinging operations is requred with regard to estimation of weight and centre of gravity of loads.
- A Theory and practical test will be completed by all delegates.
- On completion certification will be awarded.
- Courses accreditted with either CITB,CPCS,NPORS or ITTSAR
