Basic Lorry Loader Course

Course Summary

Delegates must be experienced operators of the equipment being used; this practical course enables the operator to operate the hydraulic lorry loader in accordance with the manufactures handbook and the Approved Code of Practice.

Delegate must be reasonably fit have good eyesight and hearing and be able to judge distances.

Course Objectives

• Operate safely with a clear understanding of the safety precautions and procedures.
• Carry out daily pre-operation checks.
• Understand the different crane mountings.
• Understand the function of the control levers.
• Prepare the crane for operation.
• Carry out vehicle loading procedures.
• Handle loads safely- position/lifting/slewing practice.
• Work with attachments- inspection and use of lifting tackle.
• Working in Hazardous areas- site work, overhead electric cables
• Understand different slinging methods.
• Lifting – Loading – Unloading.
• Use and understand Crane Signal

• This course includes a written and practical test prior to certification
